Why bollywood people prefer mostly english language
I feel Bollywood actors and actresses, along with their kids, prefer speaking English mainly because of their upbringing and environment. Most of them grow up in elite circles where English-medium schools, international exposure, and western lifestyles are very common. From a young age, they interact with people who speak English daily, so it naturally becomes their first and most comfortable language.More content
Another big reason is global exposure and career image. Bollywood today is not limited to India; actors work with international brands, attend global film festivals, and give interviews to foreign media. English helps them communicate easily and maintain a “global” or “premium” image. For their kids too, parents want them to be confident on international platforms, so English becomes a priority at home.
Social status also plays a role. In India, English is often associated with class, education, and sophistication. Many star kids grow up believing that speaking English makes them sound more polished and professional. This doesn’t mean they dislike Hindi, but they may not practice it as much in daily life, which affects fluency.
Lastly, comfort matters more than intention. Most Bollywood kids are not raised in traditional Hindi-speaking households; their friends, schools, and social circles communicate in English. So it’s not always about disrespecting Hindi, but about habit and exposure. However, this is also why many outsiders criticize Bollywood for being disconnected from the common Indian audience, who mainly think and express themselves in regional languages.
